Weekend Wonderland
If anyone was in my hometown this weekend and couldn't find me, it's because I was hardly ever there. Let me give you the play by play.
Friday
My Memere's birthday. Went to dinner at her house, and brought a pie from my all-favorite place for desserts: Gregg's. Then I went to the mall to see "The Matrix Reloaded" on IMAX.
Hint for people going to see that movie: don't go without seeing the first one or at the very least looking up stuff on the internet. You will be totally and utterly lost otherwise.
Saturday
Traveled up north to Tyngsboro to see my friends JvB, Jen, Dolores and Morgan. We played some pool in Lowell. (We all pretty much need WAY more practice before we join the big leagues. Although, I blame my poor performance on the alcohol. ;-) and if you believe that one...) Then we went down the street to "Diva Night" at the local pottery painting joint. It was fun. We all picked a piece to paint and got tiaras and such to wear. There was food and drinks and lots and lots of laughing.
Sunday
Jen and Dolores stayed over my house Saturday night and we headed down to the Cape in the afternoon. We had grand plans to hear the Hyannis Sound sing in Provincetown. We love a capella and they're really, really good. Their website said that they were going to be there street performing, but we never found them. So, we walked around, got Ben & Jerry's instead (I know...such a sacrifice!), and headed back to Hyannis.
Finally, at 8:00 we got to see Mary Chapin Carpenter. Let me tell you, this was a GREAT show!!! I highly, highly recommend seeing her at any time. First of all, the music is excellent. Secondly, she's funny. And thirdly, she's my new female rock idol. I've been a fan for a long time, but this is the first time I've gone to see her in concert. I love, love, loved it. Truly a great performance.
Phew! That was my weekend! I know this looks like I'm always doing something, but this is sort of an unusual weekend for this summer. I'll have more updates about my work day as the day drags on.
